Top 3 Spiritual Book Recommendations
It’s no secret that I am a voracious reader and always have been. I love to lose myself in a great book!
In the last 5 years, I’ve discovered my love for Spiritual development type reads and I love to share what I’m reading with my community. In fact, one of the most common questions I receive is ‘Can you recommend any books for someone at the beginning of their spiritual journey?’ Yes, I sure can!
My Top 3 Spiritual Book Recommendations
1. The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav
This book has my whole heart!
One of the very first Spiritual books I ever read and found in a very serendipitous way was written by Gary and it changed the course of my life. This book has been around for over 30 years and still remains a staple in most spiritual seekers bookshelves. The reason, I believe, is that Gary writes in such a clear and understandable way. As I read this book (and every time I revisit it) I get head to toe goosebumps! Gary explains our Soul’s evolution, what Karma is, the role of our personal relationships, and how important intention is among many other things. You know how I feel about intention! I think I say in almost every video I do, that this work of the soul is ALL about intention. There is also a study guide at the end of the book and a link to join a very active online group to discuss all things The Seat of the Soul.
2. The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer
I mean, where do I even begin?
This is the book I most recommend to people and it likely always will be. In my personal opinion, beginning our spiritual journey stems from the desire, whether consciously or unconsciously, to step into our true selves and to reclaim our personal sovereignty. And how better to do that than figure out why you haven’t been able to do that up until now! Micheal, like Gary above, writes in a very understandable way. I don’t know about you but sometimes with spiritual and/or personal development books, I have to read a paragraph a few times before I really get what it's saying. I did not have to do that with this book. The untethered soul answers the age old question - Who am I really? And helps us become free from our limiting self beliefs and our emotions. What if you thought of your emotions as messengers alerting you to something you need to release and what if you learned how to do that without internalizing or judging yourself for having those emotions in the first place? Pretty life changing stuff here. Highly recommend it.
3. Journey of Souls by Michael Newton, Ph.D
Another ‘Cult Classic’ Spiritual read. This one has been around for a long time and is absolutely fascinating. Dr. Newton was a counselling psychologist and a master hypnotherapist. He developed his own age regression techniques and this book is the result of that work and research. This book is a case study of decades of work with 29 clients and gives us a fascinating look at life between lives. What happens when we die? How does it feel? How can we recognize our soulmates on earth and what is the purpose of life? This book is written in interview format and is an intimate look into what happens when we leave this world. Prepare to go down the rabbit hole and open your mind up to pretty amazing research.
If you are just beginning your spiritual journey, welcome! I believe this is the most life changing work you'll ever do in your lifetime. Some of us have always been interested in this work and some of us discover it along the way but I believe it finds us when we need it to. Trust in the divine timing of your life. Reading books like these is a great start. They help us feel less alone and more understood. We find that others do and always have felt like we do …”You too?!”
Happy reading Spiritual Seekers!
